  Duration of ownership: 5 Years

  Strengths: -100% free (optional donations) -great spyware/malware protection/detection -immunizes against known threats (resident protection) -enables minor system tweaks/modification {but use them with caution}(IE,System Internals, ActiveX,Hosts,Processes)

  Weaknesses: -you need to remember to run it and keep it updated -doesn't catch everything (I use it with Lavasoft's Ad-Aware)

  Overall Evaluation: Excellent, not perfect but its one of the first programs I put on a fresh windows installation before I connect to the internet. ***Yes, in Advanced Mode you can mess up your operating system if you don't know what you are doing. The default Standard Mode is safe for the average user and has only had a few issues (as with any software)all of the years i've used it.

  Duration of ownership: 4 Years

  Strengths: As a network engineer I've used this product for years. It's one of the few utilities that I -always- use when cleaning a computer. While I can agree with other reviewers that it does not always get "everything", I've yet to find any spy/ad utility that does. There is almost always a bit of manual cleanup that has to be done. It's just the nature of the beast...if these things were easy to get rid of we wouldn't need software to do it in the first place.

  Weaknesses: In it's advanced interface, it is often confusing for non-IT people to use to its fullest effectiveness. In fact, it can often cause irreperable damage to a system if used improperly (or by those that qualify as "too smart for their own good" so to speak).

  Overall Evaluation: It's a good software, I've used it since I found out about it, and I will continue to do so as long as it is available and works so well.

  Strengths: well spybot dosent have any strengths so very little cause crashes and system prformance

  Weaknesses: dosent find all spyware and threats just overlooks them never scans the files and folders in pc just runs a bot check looking for something in its library of threats so how can you say you do this when you dont even sacan the system files just runs a bot check never did scan the hard drive or registry or memory just looked for the bots all it deticted was bad cookies not spyware and then when time to remove it all he ll breaks loose

  Overall Evaluation: my overall evaluation of spybot as is not good a pice of junk i use to use it but i removed it saysy it does things imunizing all for internet explorer some people dont use ie so then buts a tool bar in internet explorer so if you dont use internet explorer its just sitting there and then every time you try to install sonething whith administer privalges it pops up sayin user decionwas made so ehith all this hash a bot its not very good although they say it is good but use it and you will be surprised

  Strengths: Finds things the other 2 programs don't.

  Weaknesses: Slow and calls out a Registry repair program for remval.

  Overall Evaluation: Does alright for what I use it for.
